ofRead notesClone this listSony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) is a shared universe and media franchise based on Marvel Comics characters associated with Spider-Man. It's produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Entertainment, with Sony Pictures Releasing handling distribution. Initiated in December 2013, Sony aimed to expand the universe with spin-offs from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), including a Venom film. However, after the disappointing reception of the second Amazing Spider-Man film, Sony collaborated with Marvel Studios to integrate Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), leading to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021).
Sony redeveloped Venom (2018) as a standalone film, starting its separate universe. After renegotiating their deal with Marvel Studios in 2019, Sony shared the Spider-Man character between the MCU and their standalone films. This universe expanded with Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) and Morbius (2022), which introduced multiverse elements to link SSU with MCU. Despite mixed to negative reviews for Venom and Morbius, and mixed reviews for Let There Be Carnage, the series has grossed $1.5 billion worldwide.
## How is Venom related to Spider-Man? How is Venom related to Spider-Man? This combination has proven nearly lethal to the wall-crawler numerous times.
## What is Venom in Spider-Man? Venom is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is a sentient alien symbiote with an amorphous, liquid-like form, who survives by bonding with a host, usually human. This dual-life form receives enhanced powers and usually refers to itself as "Venom".
## Why does Venom hate Peter Parker? Feeling shunned, the symbiote bonds with Eddie Brock, as the pair become Venom through their shared hatred of both Peter Parker and Spider-Man. In simple terms, Venom hates Spider-man because Peter Parker rejects the Symbiote.
