Set seven years after the first film, Damien is now twelve years old and is living with his industrialist uncle Richard Thorn and his wife Ann. As CEO of Thorn industries, Richard is persuaded to invest in methods which would allow the company can make profit from famine, at the same time projecting a caring and compassionate mantra designed to disguise their unethical motives. This affords Damien a certain amount of power and he is always surrounded by wealth as well as enjoying a strong bond with his cousin Mark. The storyline details his ascendency through his most formative years as he heads into puberty closely guarded by those bound to protect him. The second part of the Omen trilogy provides more of the same formula which made the first so enjoyable, notably some excellent and ghastly death scenes, orchestral music, and strong performances across the board with Jonathan Scott-Taylor cast as Damien. And that is perhaps its biggest drawback, it is just more of the same. Whilst it is undoubtedly very enjoyable watching the demise of those who dare stand in his way it would also have been welcome for the movie to take a few risks here and there, even just enough to give the sequel a share of the critical success enjoyed by the first. Nonetheless, Damien: Omen II is a entertaining watch.
