Good movie I recommend watching it.

The bodies of a girl and a boy get switched up and then they discover a secret

At first it seemed like its gonna be something like "oh no we swapped bodies and have to figure out how we chance back to normal" but in the end the story surprised me and I liked it.

What a stunning view

Everything looks very nice and clean not to much and not to less.

it took me 3 times watching this to get over my hatred of makoto shinkai, but honestly, this movie is so good that i don't care about that anymore. it's the perfect example of the story and characters overtaking any nitpicks and plot holes you might be able to think up, and really it all just works so well that i really don't care about any of those small things. i hope this marks a turning point for shinkai where his substance manages to stand equal to his texture. read more

Worth the hype for the animation alone (although the plot is interesting too)

It's rare that a movie hits more than one of my favorite tropes at once. "Kimi no Na wa"/"Your Name" mashes down the buttons for several of my top-tier plot twists, and keeps going. Before I get to spoilers, I want to say what I'm sure everyone else has noted... this is a seriously gorgeous film, with exquisite animation ranging from supremely fluid movement of people/clothing/wind-tossed objects to breathtaking scenery. If you cared nothing about the plot, the visuals (and the complementary musical score) would be worth the time to watch it.

makoto shinkai shines in this meteoric time-twisting romance of sorts in the vein of il mare, love letter & frequency. stunningly vivid animated visuals in true shinkai fashion, with the contemplative pacing that is distinctively his -- this is a fatalistic disaster romance movie that would touch your heart with its struggle of hope amid mystery and (seeming) madness... the younger sister's sanity in stark contrast, provides the most hilarity! read more

One of my favourite movies

I love the movie, as it shows so many Japanese situations and we immediately felt like being back in Japan again.

The animation quality of that movie is such a high level. When you see the country side it really looks like "the real Japan". WOW! Overall the quality level of detail for example of the food is just top notch.

A legendary story that I loved so much☄️. It contained all the meanings of life, although there is some vocabulary of Japanese origin such as "the mosuby...'', but they added a lot of touches to the story. Time and distance don't constitute any problems as long as souls meet, and despite the years and the length of absence, the day of the meeting will come⌛. read more

i've always found makoto shinkai films to be a tad bit pretentious but this one, not that much. it was pretty entertaining and above all the animation is top notch. from character design to 3d compositing to background design, shinkai is a proud animator and i gotta give him credits for that. the camera placement too was pretty interesting. the ending ot the movie felt a bit corny though. read more

the comedy is awful and jarring. abuses every lazy plot convenience there is without ever trying to explain or excuse anything. themes are dropped as easily as theyre brought up. everything is beautifully animated in order to maximize the feels without having a speck of logic in whatever is going on. read more

i dont think i have ever loved anyone that isn't from my family and friends, so i cant really instantly connect with films that just say that these characters are in love. your name doesn't say these characters are in love, but you can tell. every single frame from this thing is amazing, and yeah sure the body swap thing is really convenient, i think is just pure coincidence, and love is just that. i didn't choose to love my family and friends, it just happened. the characters actions may seem like selfish and quite crazy but i also believe that is something that happens when your emotions... read more

essentially this is the ya version of eternal sunshine of the spotless mind with a body swap element dropped in. it's fine, but it isn't the incredible love story that it gets hyped as. i didn't really feel great chemistry between the leads. i get the difficultly cultivating that when they are never in the same room, but the story is so dependent on that connection that it needs to work better than it does. also it all felt really ya, which is not a thing you want. there was a lot of teenagers saving the day stuff, which would necessarily make it ya, but the pop ballad soundtrack really read more

In a world dominated by stupid sequels, prequels and remakes it is film/anime like this that restores hope in today's entertainment. Not only it is emotional and feels real, it delivers a relevant message. I love the imagination and palette but also appreciate that it aims to remind us of social issues that we should be paying attention to. The only reason I don't give our heroes and their story a 10/10 is that I still feel a couple of Miyazaki movies (like Kiki, Chihiro and the racoon dogs) were just that much better and showed a little more imagination. I think many people have experienced the fading realism of dreams. For a brief moment an unreal reality is our reality, and we blindly accept the rules of that place. Some dreams may repeat, their places and structure feeling all too familiar time after time again, only for them to fade into obscurity without a sound, for the last time.
