Satisfying

As far as time travel films go, Looper handles this concept fantastically. From pacing to strong acts, the plot continues to drive forward seamlessly.

2012, nothing too spectacular

Had some great shots, but nothing stuck out particularly well. Aesthetics and setting were accurate and well thought out.

Soundtrack captured the sci-fi aspect amazingly

From action scenes to time lapses, the soundtrack delivered the exact emotion and feeling. The foley was also executed well; never broke immersion.

time travel films are a tricky sort of beast to pull off correctly; any filmmaker who wants to tackle a story with an element of crossing through the time-space continuum has several hurdles to make it through in order to succeed on a creative level. first, they must either tackle or bypass the always-tricky issue of paradox and what happens if you make changes in the past which would affect the present. second, they must make the concept and method of time travel one that the audience can buy into and believe. third, they must firmly establish multiple settings of time and location and make... read more

Ok, I can accept that time travel usually leads to plot holes, but in this movie the entire concept is so ridiculous, its really hard to suspend disbelief.
While the first half at least had some decent action scenes, the second half suddenly turned into a contrived love story that dragged on and on. Overall the movie is pretty forgettable.

i was a huge fan of looper when it first came out, and tried to drum up attention for the little indie sci-fi film. when rian johnson was coming on board to write and direct the follow-up to the very positively-received the force awakens, i got beyond excited. cut to my face dropping in the opening scene of the last jedi, which is built all around a heroic female bomber pilot trying to get to a button to release the latch holding bombs above a bomb bay door in a ...starfighter? wait, so does he imagine that there is gravity that will pull them "down" when the latch is released? in space? read more

I was kind of disappointed by this one, It's not bad but it doesn't go anywhere beyond just fine. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's make-up is distracting. Jeff Daniels is miscast. It kind of drags in the middle and doesn't have enough action scenes for a 2-hour movie. The time travel doesn't make total sense. The ending while unexpected didn't make much sense either in retrospect. Other than that it's pretty solid, just enough to not be a 5/10. read more

"This time travel crap; just fries your brain like an egg" Yeah it really does. I love this movie. In fact, I enjoy almost all movies that involve time travel. However, this film begins with one story and then switches in the middle to a story based on a second, unrelated science fiction premise.It would have been a 10/10 for me if they had not included the story about a telekinetic kid who will rule the world and instead finished the story about the hitman who must find his older self to avoid getting killed by his mob boss. read more
