I'm a big fan of Alex Garland's other work. I think ‘Ex Machina and ‘Annihilation are beautiful, thought-provoking pieces of cinema. In addition, I'm also a big fan of the two main actors in this movie. Rory Kinnear, in particular, has delivered a series of wonderful performances on television and film. It therefore disappoints me to admit that 'Men' simply didn't work for me. Fuck off Alex Garland. This is the most stupid, over the top, absurd and pretentious he's gotten. Horrific pacing, just shoved all the shit at the end with no substantial buildup or establishment, the way this story is told is the most self-serious and pretentious shit I've seen in a while. I genuinely hope Alex Garland stops making movies if he's going to continue down this path. I was annoyed during the last 40 minutes or so of this "film". I thought the first half was promising, some pretty good cinematogrpahy, really liked the colours in this one. I'm glad to have seen Jessie Buckley read more

another a24 horror film that tries to be artsy but only ends up devoid of substance. it was a mediocre horror movie but that third act really elevated it to garbage. how do you get worse than lars von trier in terms of self masturbatory pretentiousness read more
