godzilla's last film before a 9 year hiatus. is it a good sendoff? standard godzilla checklist: fuck about with human story for ages - check introduce monster 1 - check more human shite - check humans interact with the monster(s) - check bring in the other monster(s) - check finally the monsters clash - happens pretty early at roughly one hour in so pretty much uses the full formula which makes sense because they brought in some old faces from the crews who worked on the films that invented and honed that formula. this includes ishirô honda, the director of the first batch of really enjoyable... read more

Original Japanese version This one is definitely better than the previous entry in the Godzilla series. From the first minute onwards; TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA is exactly the kind of movie that this series needed after the extremely cheesy yet surprisingly enjoyable entries such as GIGAN, MEGALON and the previous MECHAGODZILLA.
