cinema day part 4 of 5 goddamit this was good. i'm not sure why i've seen a lot of reviews saying keira knightley was shit. i thought she was pretty good myself. bendydick cuminmysnatch was fantastic. a wonderful, heartbreaking story that once again shows what shits we are as a species. this man saved countless lives and was rewarded by being told he was unnatural and subjected to an atrocity which lead to him taking his life. read more

MY quick rating - 6;9/10. If you know the story; then you already know it is quite a feat. The acting in this is top notch. I only don't rate this higher because it is a biopic; and tells a story I know. Which is a 10 for sure; but to make a movie; they really shouldn't have brushed the "homosexual" and "secret for 50 years" part off so easily. What makes this even more special is after the analyst solved the UNBREAKBLE "enigma" code; the secret that they had done it remained a mystery for 50 some years after the end of WW II. A much better version than the 2001 film about the Enigma code.Benedict Cumberbatch is excellent as Alan Turing the real life man responsible for cracking the Enigma code.Keira Knightley is also good as the only female member of the team.Should do well during Awards season,just a little bit long for my liking but a good quality film and one of the years best. read more

Lovely drama, with a lot of history and a key focus on the then taboo homosexuality. Acting and music are the key elements. Occasional Brit dryness possibly due to adaptation. Definitely among the better movies of the year. read more
