it is one of the best action flicks of the decade, but it does run a bit too long. if they could shave 10ish minutes off it would probably flow a little better. by the end of the final fights i was just a little worn out and wasn't completely invested in them. michelle monaghan didn't need to be in this film, she is a great actress and it is great to see her get work especially in a huge blockbuster like this, but the character doesn't serve a necessary purpose in the story. ethan hunt doesn't need her to be in danger to motivate him to save the world, the world being in danger or his team... read more

i don't think it can be overstated or reiterated enough, mission: impossible - fallout is a better movie than it has any right to be. it takes logical hiccups and underdeveloped characterization from previous movies and makes them integral and important pieces of ethan hunt's character. this movie, the sixth in the series, does more for him as a character than the previous five combined. the brilliance of it is that it also functions as well as it does because of the previous five. it reframes his actions and motivations, making him retroactively seem more human, and less like an action read more
