Before Sunset is transcendant. I don't mean that in the hyperbolic sense, I mean it literally. It takes what was originally a single film about 2 people, and by adding another, becomes something so much more than the sum of its parts it's unreal. In the space of one conversation it touches on everything between growing up and environmental issues and what happy people truly are and it has one of the BEST ENDINGS OF ALL TIME. If you have not seen this or the others, then you owe it to yourself to fix that right now. read more

- they really didn't exchange contacts as was inteted at in the other movie. That is just stupid beyond reason

And the unfortunate event that prevented the reunion seems a bit unlikely but whatever

- similar to the previous one in that it slaps the viewer with a ton of ideologies but never gets into detail

+/- the conversation seems too quick and unatural even if they are in a hurry. I'm fine with that but yeah.

i'm beginning to wonder why i had heard absolutely nothing about before sunrise until about three weeks ago. and i'm starting to wonder why i hadn't heard about this movie either when talking about excellent sequels. i am happy to report (to myself) that this movie is not a carbon copy of the first one (which is what i was expecting, honestly). the whole time you're like "ahhh, ethan hawke, you're going to miss the plane," but all the conversation in the meantime is really intriguing, and makes the time go by quickly. their dynamic still feels very honest, in spite of all hardships... hold... read more

heartwarming and heartracing. this sequel shows in big bold letters that love is a beautiful and destructive thing that is never perfectly found within anyone except the few. two lives separate but never forgotten, for better and worse. the shots of paris we're astonishing, but i mean it's paris. i won't say this is better than the first, but there could never be as good of a follow up. this movie is modern love in a nutshell told by two destined lovers living off that past that is killing them. can't wait to finish the trilogy tomorrow, these two have been some of my favorite films of all... read more

Everything that I thought this movie could/should be happened to be exactly what it should have been. I thought the passage of time being at the forefront of the story about a second connection between these two characters should be what drives the story and peels its layers and I got that and more. Both of these movies, but possibly this one even more so show how mundane everyday ordinary conversations can be captivating, the little things in life and a real connection with someone can make all the difference. the fact that before sunrise exists and happens to be as good as it is is a miracle, so i dont even know what youd call this one. baffles me how they did this twice and both are damn near perfect. ive been taking in a lot of stories recently that do this realistic portrayal of love schtick, and none of them have really hit the mark for me. the difference here? the idea of love being a fantasy isnt rejected or torn apart. the way i see it, they embrace it. its kind of impossible not to with a story about these two finding each other after 9 years, but linklater, hawke, and delpy never let read more
