Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter

solitude. that's just fancy loneliness kumiko never is able to forge that human connection with anyone. that's the tragic angle that's pretty effective with this film. the film seems to innately understand loneliness, solitude, the different barriers to connect them, and the way that people cope when they aren't able to get past those barriers. a sense of solitude seeps from every frame of this film. we can never really get past the pervading sense of isolation, just as kumiko is never able to quite get past it either. the film takes it's time and allows this sense to really sink in. what read more
