i snagged this gem for like $8 on blu-ray, and didn't realize till i popped it in that i'd actually seen it before. fortunately, i remembered really liking the movie, and it was fun revisiting it. it's peak jet li stuff, of which i don't own nearly enough. the story is straightforward and effective, and most of the runtime is graciously free of too much slapstick humor. instead tai-chi master features an ideal ratio of some melodrama to plenty of hard hitting fights. the set pieces are bursting with creative stunts, wire-work, and eye-popping martial arts. some of it seems like it belongs in... read more

Not bad for the most part, but there are a few points that really drag for me - the whole plot point of Jet Li's character going insane was almost enough for me to check out. read more
