So... another Disney's attraction turned into a movie, huh? And you know what? Jungle Cruise is EXACTLY what you may expect. It's a very typical Disney movie, similar to what we've seen in the latest Pirates of the Caribbean. Sure, we've got Rock instead of Johnny Depp, but still, the template is exactly the same. In other words, you won't see any surprises here. Not a single one. It's THE most typical Disney movie you can ever imagine. But.

a fun and sometimes visually striking movie, but with so much of it being cgi i can't help but wonder why disney doesn't just start making these kinds of adventure movies traditionally animated. the verve and style this would've had- akin to atlantis: the lost empire and treasure planet. you can't tell me you aren't already mentally rendering the cast in that disney™ character drawing aesthetic. emily blunt can do no wrong here, and adds wit and pathos that patch up the gaps where chemistry was intended to go. edgar ramirez manages to be a scene-stealer, even behind loads of cg effects. jack... read more

i could only stand a half hour if this before turning it off. watching with kids might make this manageable but otherwise it's a hard pass. i ended up putting anaconda on after this and it kinda made jungle cruise seem like a prequel. they're both set in the amazon and you get to imagine everyone gets eaten by an anaconda instead of whatever the hell was actually going to happen in the movie which, i think, is a big plus. read more

My quick rating - 7.0/10. Seems anytime a Disney flick comes in; that goes along with it looking "spectacular" and this one is no exception. Lush environments along with some very nice looking CGI make everything visually stunning. But beyond the eye candy is the performances of Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt who; if there was an award; would be up for the couple of the year. Okay, Disney making another cash grab is not shocking, but they could at least make it good. Jesse Plemons was the most enjoyable part, but even he wasn't as good as his usual performances. This movie just feels very soulless, and tries to force feelings that just aren't there. I'm sure kids will still have a good time with it - I know the ones in my theater seemed to. read more

Reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean, Jumanjji: Welcome to the Jungle, Aguirre: The Wrath of God, Indiana Jones and even Bringing Up Baby. All of which I'd rather watch again than this movie. It's not a total train wreck to be fair but the comedy and action never quite clicked enough to win me over. Dwayne Johnson just can't say no to these family friendly action/adventure movies. I want to go on a jungle cruise with the rock, best jokes. This is The Mummy mixed with Pirates of the Caribbean, but not as good as both. It was a decent movie, but I don't really feel it needs a sequel. Just end it here and move on to different movies. read more

Could have been a fun throwback adventure movie if it had any grit or stakes that felt real, instead it's two hours of high-budget Disney CGI spectacle with a mostly nonsensical plot and Disney's, like, fifth "first openly gay character". Emily Blunt is cool and sometimes it does actually feel like the throwback adventure movie I was wishing it would be, but mostly it's not that and also not very good. read more

I seem to have had a theme with the last few films I've watched and reviewed. The Lost City, Indiana Jones and now this, Jungle Cruise. Luckily, I was after a good old fashioned 1930s adventure film after Indiana Jones and this hit the spot that Dial of Destiny did not. Not a fantastic film, but easy watch, fun story (if a tad confusing at times) and silly, knowing, jokes. Jack Whitehall surprised me too, acting incredibly well against two powerhouses of Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson. Jesse Plemmons also wonderfully hams it up as *name forgotten* the Nazi. A very enjoyable weekend film. read more

One of the great ones to come out this year, Dwayne's rather painful jokes keep me laughing. Strongly recommend the movie quite enjoyable, don't make one think too much but keeps you on the edge of your seat. Friendly reminder if you have ophidiophobia or have fear of snakes you may wanna skip this one. read more
